Reinventing Myself
Today I found an inspiring woman on YouTube, Natalie Dawson, and I spent a good two hours learning from her. She has several videos dedicated to transforming yourself from where you are now to where you want to be. I took copious notes. This is Natalie:

She has one video in particular on how to get hired right now. In her no-nonsense style, she describes 7 tips to get hired at your dream job. Here’s a summary:
Ask yourself, “What’s my dream job?” Detail it out - where is it, what are you doing, are you working for a company or launching your own business?
Stalk the company (stalk in a healthy way):
The company vision
Their values
Their competitors
Any recent wins that why have shared on social media or their website
Make your resume stand out and cater it to the company where you want to work. Customize your resume for every job you apply for.
AFTER you submit your resume and apply for the position, connect with people at the company. Attach your resume to your emails. Tell them which position you applied for and ask them for advice.
Be relentless. If you apply and are rejected, don’t take no as a no. Figure out what you do not know and continuously improve yourself until you close your skill gap or communication gap. You may be qualified for other roles at the same company.
Don’t just say it, prove it. Always have a list of your stats - the results you have delivered on past projects and include numbers. The best stat you can have is helping a business generate revenue.
Every interaction matters. Clean up your social media. Your digital footprint is a 24/7 extension of your reputation.
With this in mind, I’m thinking what results and stats I’ve accomplished in the past that would stand out on my website and in my portfolio. I need to highlight specific results I achieved for my past clients.
In 4 days I’ve created a structure for my site and my portfolio, determined my voice and my brand at a high-level, and learned from a YouTube influencer and business coach how to create specific targets for each of my personal, professional, and financial goals.
In essence, this week I’ve iterated rapidly through the creative design process without being overly prescriptive in the details: Empathize, Define, Design, Prototype, Test. I allowed myself to stop over-controlling and over-planning. This is a step for me - letting go and allowing God to guide me - being flexible and adaptive.
I have 55 days left until my deadline of completing my portfolio. What I need to do next is create some metrics to measure my progress and my growth.
I’m setting an additional short-term goal of completely re-inventing myself over the next 90 days until November 25, 2025. What do I want to stop doing? What can I delegate? What should I continue to keep doing? And what new things should I start doing?
To be continued…
