Copy and Voice
Well it’s day three of my portfolio streak. Today I worked on the text copy for my data science page. I want to express my authentic self vs. trying to impress because I believe we can learn more from each other if we are open about both our strengths and weaknesses. Each of us is always a work in progress. As such, I’ve decided to go with a conversational tone for my site.
The skills I’ve developed over my career weren’t planned from the beginning. I didn’t start out wanting to be a quant. I followed my strengths and my passions which lead me initially to computer science, then human-computer interaction, then graphic design, then UX design, finance, statistics, data science, and then eventually quant. The journey hasn’t been a straight line - at all.
I’ve also been thinking about creating a plan to completion, because I want to be able to estimate to myself when I’ll finish at least an MVP version of my site. That’s what I would do if I were working on this for a client. Because the client is myself, I’m inclined to experiment. I’m curious about taking the path of no project plan and leaning on principles, values, and general guidepost milestones instead. A detailed project plan is within my comfort zone and I’m trying to step out of my comfort zones and stretch myself everywhere in my life right now. Trying new solutions.
I’m going to explore the creative agile pathway a few more days and see where it leads me…
