Atomic Portfolio

Motivational Quote: "You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." – Zig Ziglar

Yesterday I began my annual project of updating my online portfolio. I’ve decided to document my journey this year.

In the interest of being as efficient as possible, I’m using a free and simple template available on Square Space. I explored various portfolio creation tools, platforms, and UI generative AI tools and none yet do exactly what I need it to do. The new features in Figma may provide what I need, but my time is limited to deliver a fast MVP and I’ve settled on the Square Space platform for now.

While exploring the newest release of Figma, I discovered the latest updates on their Figma Learn site. They have a course published in May 2025 called “Figma Design for beginners”. It’s a hands-on course using the free version of Figma to design a portfolio website from scratch. I’m using this course as a starting point and a motivator to redo my portfolio for 2025.

This year I’ve embraced Atomic Habits as part of my daily habit structure. I’ve been using the Tiimo app and a paper calendar for productivity. One of my daily habits for the next seven weeks is to work on my updated portfolio. I have a self-imposed deadline to finish no later than October 20, 2025.

Here we go….

Productivity Tip: Adopt the "Priority Pulse Check" method to stay on track in a fast-paced environment. Today, pause for 5 minutes mid-morning to review your to-do list and ask: "What’s the one task that will move the needle most today?" (e.g., finalizing a critical report or prepping for a key meeting). Reorganize your schedule to tackle it next, even if it means rescheduling less urgent tasks. This quick reset ensures your energy aligns with your most impactful priorities, keeping you effective despite the day’s whirlwind.
